Motability - Access
The Skoda Kamiq has a number of features that should help with getting in and out if you have restricted mobility. For a start, the doors open even wider than they do on the closely related Seat Arona (68 degrees vs 66) so they’re well out of the way when you’re getting in. That said, they’ll also be well out of the way when you need to shut the door, so reaching them could be a bit of a stretch. The door aperture itself is tall and wide.
At 590mm from the ground in its lowest position, the driver’s seat is a bit lower than those of rivals, but it’s a good 640mm high when fully raised. There’s also a vast amount of front-seat space.
The boot opening itself is a sizeable 810mm tall and 1020mm wide and so doesn’t cause an obstruction when loading bulky items. It’s a shame that an adjustable-height boot floor isn’t standard, but it’s a relatively inexpensive option and one that we recommend shelling out for. In its raised position, it helps when loading and unloading by eliminating the lip at the boot opening, as well as the step in the floor that forms when the seats are folded.
Motability - Ease of use and options
You have two options if you want a Skoda Kamiq with an automatic gearbox. First up is the 108bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is free-revving and zingy, if not what you’d call an overwhelming performer. Still, it’s more than capable if you do most of your driving in town traffic.
