The Skoda Superb is a truly fabulous thing. For a start, it's absolutely massive, so it has the practicality base covered. Yet it's far from a one-trick pony, proving pretty comfy, nicely made, well equipped and great value for money. If you can forego a premium German or Swedish badge, it's a spankingly good executive car.get the best price

It is well worth looking at SE Technology, which adds leather seat trim, heated front seats, an electrically operated driver's seat, sat-nav, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and privacy glass to the SE trim's list.

If diesel is not your thing but you have an eye on efficiency, then the plug-in hybrid 1.4 TSI iV 218 comes highly recommended. This uses an 85kW electric motor paired with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine for a total power output of 215bhp. It's one of the quicker versions of the Superb (0-62mph takes 7.7sec) and has an official electric-only range of around 40 miles, which is similar to the BMW 330e.
