What should I look for in a used Skoda Superb?

This is a long and fairly wide car, so check the bodywork and alloy wheels carefully for any damage. Make sure the rear seats fold as they should. Look at the condition of the carpet in the boot, as well as the operation of the tailgate.

Check the interior for any stains on the carpet or seat fabric and make sure all the electrical items work as they should.

Is a used Skoda Superb reliable?

In our latest What Car? Reliability Survey, the Skoda Superb appeared in the executive car class. In petrol form, it achieved 15th place out of 24 cars with an overall score of 85.6% while its diesel counterpart ranked seventh with a score of 93.9%.

Reliability rating

Petrol versions of the 2015-2024 Skoda Superb are less dependable than diesels.

Skoda coughed up for 85% of petrol Superb faults, and most cars remained driveable and 45% were fixed in a day or less. Petrol Superb owners told us 23% of their cars had suffered a problem, with the sat-nav/infotainment and other electrical systems giving the most grief.

Almost a third of the diesel 2015-2023 Skoda Superb models in our survey suffered a fault, across a variety of areas – owners reported air con, battery, bodywork, engine, exhaust, and sat nav/infotainment issues – half of which prevented cars from being driven until they were repaired. Additionally, only 50% of repairs were covered under warranty; those that weren’t set owners back between £101 and £1000.

Skoda as a brand came 13th out of 31 manufacturers featured with an overall score of 91.8%. This result put it above rivals like Audi, Mercedes and Volkswagen, but below BMW, Honda and Toyota.

Used Skoda Superb reliability: the owners' view

Most owners praised the Superb for its dependability, with few serious mechanical faults. Common issues were minor and often related to the infotainment system, but these were typically resolved quickly and without significant cost.

The feedback on the dealer service was mostly positive, with many owners noting the professionalism and efficiency of Skoda's network. Fast response times and clear communication were frequently mentioned. However, a few owners noted longer than expected waiting times for repair appointments, though this was not a widespread concern.
