Legacy saloons are rare and unloved by used car buyers so they don't make such a sound investment as the wagon. Contract hire rates for business users are low, though. You do pay over the odds for CO2-based tax. Running costs could prove punitive for private buyers due to unimpressive fuel economy and high insurance.
Subaru Legacy Saloon quality & reliability
Despite the dowdiness of the Legacy's cabin it feels well made and sturdy. Our experience is that the plastics can take plenty of abuse too, shrugging off scrapes and scuffs well. General reliability is excellent too. Servicing can be expensive but that should be the only time you need to visit a dealer.
Subaru Legacy Saloon safety & security
Whatever model you plump for all get the same level of standard safety and security kit. Anti-lock brakes get bundled in, so do twin front and side airbags. There are three proper harnesses in the rear bench too. An engine immobiliser is the front line against theft, but there are no deadlocks.
