The world's largest car manufacturer, Toyota has a wide range of vehicles on sale in the UK - with the focus on practical, family-focused transport and low-CO2 hybrids.
The range starts with the Aygo, a city car that shares a lot of its parts with the Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1, and the Ford Fiesta-rivalling Yaris, which is available with petrol and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid set-up that delivers extremely low CO2 emissions.
The hybrid system is also offered on a low-CO2 version of Toyota's rival for the VW Golf, the Auris, although the rest of the five-door hatchback struggles to compete against plusher and more accomplished rivals. The car is also available as an estate, the Auris Touring Sports.
Further up the range, the Toyota Avensis and Avensis Tourer are respectable competitors for the Ford Mondeo and VW Passat, while the RAV4 offers good practicality for a mid-sized SUV. The Toyota Landcruiser, meanwhile, is built to last and will go pretty much anywhere you want it to.
Beyond the mainstream models, Toyota sells the world's best-selling hybrid, the Prius, which is just entering its fourth generation, and the GT86, a lightweight rear-wheel-drive sports car that's focused on handling agility more than out-and-out performance. It also still sells the Verso, a small MPV, although it's outclassed these days.
Toyota's warranty is one of the better offerings in the market; at five years, it may not match Kia's seven-year cover but it's a couple of years longer than the norm. The company remains strongly committed to UK production, too; both the Auris and Avensis are manufactured at a factory in Burnaston, Derbyshire.
