The Toyota C-HR's low running costs and good equipment levels partly make up for its relatively high price tag, but its ride, handling and practicality are not as good as the best small SUV rivals'. If you do buy a C-HR, we think the 1.8-litre regular hybrid in Design trim is the best choice.
The trim
This is our favourite trim. As well as the bigger 12.3in touchscreen, it also adds a fully digital driver display, ambient interior lighting and heated front seats to everything you get on the entry-level Icon. Plus it gains some extra parking aids and opens up some personalisation features, including the option to have a black roof.
