Read full Toyota Corolla Cross review
The Corolla Commercial is a unique proposition: it’s cheap to run thanks to its hybrid engine, practical, and more comfortable to drive than many of its van-based rivals. And for those reasons, it's the best car-derived van you can buy.
The trim
Entry-level Icon trim gets you dusk-sensing LED headlights, power-folding door mirrors, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, a 10.5in touchscreen with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless start, a rear-view camera along with front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control and 16in alloy wheels.
The engine
With 138bhp at its disposal, the 1.8 has a 0-62mph time of 9.2sec, and has enough performance for everyday driving without needing to mash the accelerator into the carpet. It’s the best version based on price, performance and efficiency.
