As a true sports car, the Toyota Supra is too wayward in the handling department to steal any thunder from the sublime Alpine A110 and Porsche 718 Cayman. If you're not desperate to be the fastest on a track day, there's still fun to be had with the Supra's playful and easily approached limits. The main benefit over the more purist sports cars is its GT credentials: it's quiet at speed, pretty comfortable, has an excellent driving position, lots of kit and a great infotainment system. It's also pretty cheap to run and should be reliable.

This is the entry-level trim for the 3.0-litre engine and comes with forged 19in alloy wheels, manually adjustable seats with suede-like material, a 10-speaker audio system, wireless phone-charging and front and rear parking sensors.

The muscular 335bhp 3.0-litre suits the GT character of the Supra the best because you don’t have to work it hard for it to feel quick. It hits 0-62mph in a claimed 4.3sec, and emits a baritone bark when you push it, along with pops and crackles from the exhaust if you back off the accelerator.
