The sole drivetrain choice is a 1.8-litre petrol engine that works in union with an electric motor to make a modest combined output of 120bhp. It's possible to drive at up to 36mph using electric power alone, but most of the time the engine is in action, too. The automatic gearbox is a CVT unit that sends revs soaring when you accelerate hard, but it's much quieter than some other Toyota hybrids.
