The Toyota Prius is a highly cost-effective choice for both private and company car drivers. We like it for its decent ride and handling, good interior space and impressively low running CO2 emissions. It makes for a fine family car, even if you may need an ‘I’m not a Uber’ sticker on the back of it.

Excel-spec cars have a 10-speaker premium audio system, front and rear parking sensors, a parking assistance system and leather upholstery. A bit too pricey for our liking.

The only engine option available. Performance is initially sprightly, but a 0-62mph time over 11sec isn’t particularly good these days.
