Review

Incredible versatility thanks to its seating for up to nine people and a fine option if space is your absolute priority, but don’t expect the van-based Toyota Proace Verso to drive as well as smaller MPVs, or look as nice inside.

While moving as many people as possible for a reasonable price is this trim’s main aim (you get nine seats as standard) you do get a few luxuries. They include climate control, a 7.0in touchscreen with sat-nav and a DAB radio, auto lights and wipers, electric windows, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror and front foglights. Available in Medium and Long lengths.

The entry level 1.5-litre diesel with 118bhp is quite weedy for a car this size (especially if you go for a nine-seater) and will cover a 0-62mph sprint in a leisurely 12.0sec. We’d recommend spending a little more for the 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel. Only available with a six-speed manual gearbox.
