The Vauxhall Corsa is a competent small car, but not outstanding in any area. It isn’t as comfortable or as nice inside as the closely related Peugeot 208, not as fun to drive as a Ford Fiesta, nor as spacious as a Volkswagen Polo. It is at least well equipped and not too expensive, if you stick to our recommended trims.

Trim: SE Nav Premium

Features a 7.0in infotainment screen, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering wheel stereo controls, cruise control, electric windows and mirrors, LED headlights, air-conditioning, lane assist, a driver attention monitor, 16in alloy wheels, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, automatic lights and wipers and rear parking sensors.

Engine: 1.5 Turbo D

The 1.5 102 Turbo D diesel engine has 101bhp and is stronger than the 1.2 100 petrol from low revs – for more flexible in-gear performance – but hasn't got the same ultimate pace, so isn't as quick away from the traffic lights. The excellent fuel economy will appeal to anyone doing very high miles.
