The Grandland X offers a similar blend of comfort and practicality as the Peugeot 3008 on which it’s based, but there are better all-rounders in this class

Trim: SE Premium

This is the most basically equipped version of the Grandland X, but you still get 18in alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, high beam assist and cruise control. You also get a 7.0in touchscreen with a DAB radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but no sat-nav. Disappointingly, it doesn't come with automatic emergency braking.

Engine: 1.2 Turbo

You might expect this petrol engine to feel underpowered given its small capacity but, in reality, it is perfectly adequate. It also averages more than 50mpg in official fuel economy tests, no matter which wheels, tyres and gearbox you choose. A 1.0-litre Skoda Karoq or Seat Ateca is punchier, let alone a 1.5, however.
