Review

The Grandland X offers a similar blend of comfort and practicality as the Peugeot 3008 on which it’s based, but there are better all-rounders in this class

Trim: Elite Nav

Building on SRi Nav trim, you get leather seats with electrical adjustment for the driver, heated front seats and steering wheel, 19in wheels, a panoramic roof and a heated windscreen. Worth avoiding for its ride-spoiling big wheels and head room-swallowing glass roof alone.

Engine: 1.2 Turbo

You might expect this petrol engine to feel underpowered given its small capacity but, in reality, it is perfectly adequate. It also averages more than 50mpg in official fuel economy tests, no matter which wheels, tyres and gearbox you choose. A 1.0-litre Skoda Karoq or Seat Ateca is punchier, let alone a 1.5, however.
