The Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer is well equipped and can be cheap to buy, but it’s not quite as spacious, refined or efficient as its rivals

Trim: Elite Nav

Elite Nav adds adaptive LED headlights, front foglights, tinted rear windows, leather seats that are heated up front and a Bose stereo to Tech Line Nav features. It’s also the only trim available with the 2.0 turbo petrol.

Engine: 1.6 Turbo D [136]

This higher-powered version of the 1.6 diesel unit is noticeably punchier than the 108bhp option, but it has a narrower power band. Even so, the extra shove will be useful if you have a boot full of stuff.
