The model
Read full reviewThere’s no doubting that the Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake is a more practical alternative to its hatchback sibling. Not only is boot capacity increased substantially, there’s also more head room for rear seat passengers. It’s not as classy inside as premium rivals, and not as practical as the best estates out there, however it’s still a spacious and comfortable alternative to a dowdy old wagon.

See full equipmentEven entry-level SE Nav trim comes well equipped with sat-nav (unsurprisingly) controlled with an 8.0in touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights, three-zone climate control, an electric tailgate, AEB and part electric seat adjustment. All the kit you need, in other words.
The engine
See full engine specsAnother engine we haven’t tried in the Arteon Shooting Brake, although it looks to be the best bet for company car users who don’t want a plug-in hybrid.
