The Golf SV looks expensive next to its rivals, no matter how far down the list of trim levels and engines you venture. It does have some of the most economical and efficient engines in the class, though, and it’s classy image means it should hold on to its value better than most other MPVs.
Volkswagen Golf SV quality & reliability
Few other MPVs can match the Golf SV for interior quality; it has plush plastics and nicely damped switchgear, and everything feels solidly put together. Volkswagen finished in the top quarter in the latest JD Power customer satisfaction survey, and the previous model (called Golf Plus) scored well for reliability.
Volkswagen Golf SV safety & security
Every model comes with stability control, a driver’s knee airbag and twin front, side and curtain ’bags. SE-spec cars and above get a City Emergency Braking system that automatically applies the brakes if it detects an imminent collision at speeds below 19mph. Deadlocks, locking wheel nuts and marked mechanical parts are all fitted to make life harder for thieves.
