Entry-level S trim is pretty sparsely equipped. It has air-con, 16in alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, digital radio and a USB socket, but it’s well worth spending the extra on the more lavishly equipped SE Business version.
This is the cheapest engine option for the Passat and scores for its refined manners. Even so, we’d recommend spending a little extra on the more powerful yet more frugal 1.4 TSI 150.
