The model
Read full reviewThe Polo is a huge seller and it isn't hard to see why. It's a great all-rounder – smart and roomy inside, comfortable to sit in and good to drive. And while it’s pricier to buy outright than some of its rivals, that’s largely offset by competitive monthly finance rates and strong resale values. However, hybrid rivals offer better fuel economy and you need to pay extra for some of the modern safety kit rivals come with as standard.

See full equipmentThe Polo Beats gets a unique look and an upgraded Beats sound system. For you audiophiles out there, the system features an eight channel amplifier, a subwoofer and six speakers with a 300 watt output. However, the stereo’s sound isn’t as impressive as the Ford Fiesta’s B&O system, and unless a punchy sound system is your number one priority, Match trim is a better buy.
The engine
See full engine specsIt might only have three cylinders and 94bhp, but this engine has the best combination of performance, fuel economy and CO2 emissions. It feels easily strong enough in town and holds its own on the motorway, too.
