The model
Read full reviewGo for the 1.0 TSI 95 SE model and you'll have bought a very fine, practical small SUV for a sensible price. Don't be tempted to go for higher trims and more powerful engines, because if you have that kind of money to spend we'd recommend looking at the T-Roc instead – it's only slightly more expensive and more sophisticated in many areas. The excellent Ford Puma is also more fun to drive.
The trim
See full equipmentSE trim adds 17in alloys, adaptive cruise control, a second USB charging port, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic wipers and a leather-wrapped steering wheel to everything you get with entry-level S trim. It's our pick of the range.
The engine
See full engine specsThis is all you'll probably need. It isn't as nippy as a Ford Puma 1.0 Ecoboost MHEV buts still hits 0-62mph in a claimed 10.8sec and serves up enough performance from low revs to avoid you having to thrash the engine. You don't even miss the absence of a sixth gear – this engine and the 1.6 TDI diesel are the only versions of the T-Cross with a five-speed manual gearbox.
