The Volkswagen Up offers plenty of choice to appeal to a wide market, including electric and hot-hatch variants. It combines fun driving manners with generous standard equipment, while a high-quality interior sets it apart from rivals such as the Kia Picanto. It’s a shame the entry-level engine is a little underpowered, though, and automatic emergency braking isn’t available.
