Good to drive and relatively classy inside, the VW Up is a fine buy if you choose carefullyget the best price
High Up trim gets you a lot of kit for your money, so it's our favourite. This includes as standard 15in alloy wheels, air conditioning, Bluetooth, heated front seats, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, extra speakers for the stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearlever, and front foglights. This trim level is available only with the 74bhp and 89bhp engines.
This turbocharged three-cylinder engine delivers much punchier acceleration than either of the non-turbo petrols – particuarly at low revs. It makes the Up far more relaxing to drive and a much more competent motorway car. Available only in High Up or Up Beats trim.
