Review

It might be some time since we voted the multi-talented Volvo XC40 our Car of the Year, but it still cuts the mustard. It blends generous passenger space and a practical boot with a quality interior and top-notch safety. That means you aren't only buying a hugely desirable product, but one backed up with real substance. If you're a private buyer, we reckon the T3 petrol makes the most sense, but the T4 plug-in hybrid is a great choice for company car drivers.

Temptingly priced, but you'll have to do without quite a few useful features that you’d get with our preferred Momentum trim.

We haven't tried this engine yet, but seeing as the more powerful T3 has just enough power, this is likely to feel sluggish. It does have the same 1600kg towing rating as the pokier T3, however.
