The Volvo XC60 looks and feels classy inside, plus it's also roomy and well equipped. In short, it's a fine choice. The Audi Q5 is a better all-rounder, though, while the BMW X3 and Porsche Macan are more fun to drive.

Mid-range Plus is worth considering if you want a few more luxuries; it gives the XC60 a more upmarket interior, fully electric seats, four-zone climate control, keyless drive, a premium stereo, a heated windscreen, heated rear seats and a whole host of extra safety features.
The engineSee full engine specs
The petrol engine range starts with the front-wheel drive 194bhp B4. We’ve yet to sample this engine in the XC60, but it impressed us in the V60 estate with its punchy performance and decent fuel economy, so we’d expect it to be equally adept in the XC60.
