The Volvo XC60 isn't the best large SUV to drive; if you're looking for something sportier there's the Porsche Macan, while the Audi Q5 can be more comfortable. Yet the XC60 looks and feels classy inside, is roomy and well equipped, making it a very strong choice. That's especially so in good-value Momentum trim.

Trim: Polestar Engineered

Polestar versions get bespoke suspension with fancy dampers, 21in wheels, 15bhp more from the engine and a bespoke gearbox tune. However, they're pricey and the changes make the XC60 far less comfortable, no more fun and far more expensive.

Engine: 2.0 T8 405 Hybrid

With only 15bhp more than non-Polestar versions of the T8, you'll struggle to notice the extra power. Disappointingly, there's a more inconsistent response to the electric motor, too
