What should I look for in a used Kia Sorento?

There is a possibility that your Sorento may have seen some off-road action, even if it’s not a genuine mud-plugger in the sense that the Land Rover Discovery Sport may be, so check the bodywork carefully for scuff marks and damage to the sills and the underneath of the vehicle.

On cars with a manual gearbox, make sure the clutch doesn’t slip or smell, as there’s a lot of work for it to do pulling the Sorento around, especially if the car has been used to tow anything. Be sure to check all the electrics work, too, especially in the top-spec models that are well equipped. Check all the seats are clean and tidy, and the rearmost seats fold away neatly.

Is a used Kia Sorento reliable?

So far, this version of the Sorento seems to be remarkably trouble-free, with excellent results in the past few What Car? Reliability Surveys it appeared in. Alas, too few examples were available for inclusion in our last survey.
