The MG HS is a popular car for families, so check the interior for wear and tear. On the outside, make sure the bodywork and alloy wheels are in good condition. There have been reports of software glitches and build quality issues among some owners, so make sure the electrics are working properly and there are no squeaks or rattles from interior trim.

Is a used MG HS hatchback reliable?
The 2024-present generation of HS is too new to have featured in the latest What Car? Reliability Survey, but the car’s predecessor did feature and it didn’t do well. Out of 76 family SUVs, the PHEV finished in 44th place and the petrol in 61st. That's pretty poor, finishing below the Citroën C5 Aircross, Hyundai Tucson and Mazda CX-5.
As a brand, MG did even worse. It finished in last place out of 30 manufacturers, placing it below all of its rivals.
