Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) is applied to all cars registered after March 1, 2001 according to the amount of carbon dioxide they emit.
These emissions figures place each car into one of seven VED bands, with Band A for the lowest-emitting cars through to Bad G, for the most polluting.
Further information on emissions is available in each car review on whatcar.com, under the 'Running Costs' section.
In addition, you can search for new cars according to which VED band they are in by following the links on the right to our Green Car Guide.
