Toyota recall repairs start today

10 February 2010

Toyota's 'sticky accelerator' recall repairs will start today at 206 service centres across the UK.

The centres have also received the software required to update the Prius brake system, following the hybrid's recall that was announced yesterday.

Accelerator fix
In total, 180,865 vehicles need their accelerator pedal fixed, with each repair estimated to take around 30 minutes.

Service centres will be working for extended hours, and over weekends, creating the capacity to repair 6000 vehicles a day.

Prius brake recall
Toyota is contacting owners and keepers of the 8500 UK-owned Prius hybrid models affected by the latest recall, to inform them of the software upgrade required to remedy an issue with the car's brakes.

The software upgrade should take around 40 minutes to complete.

Concerned owners can contact Toyota's Customer relations team on 0800 1388 744, or visit www.toyota.co.uk for updates.
