I purchased my 2003 in April 2009, at the time it had 92,000 and now has 112,000.
Since owning it I have had some of the usual problems, locking button on keycards falling off, stitching on half leather drivers seat splitting at the side (leather and vinyl never a good combo), bulbs in the window switches blown and the rear wiper mechanism seizing and burning out the motor (like this when purchased).
When all said and done, the car was nearly 6 years old, so wear and tear is to be expected, the rear window mechanism is purely down to bad design, they use steel bushes in an alloy body with a steel shaft, recipe for disaster, they should have used nylon bushes. If this is stripped and serviced anually it prevents the problem and it's associated motor burn out.
Most of the other problems people complain about, again can be prevented by maintaining the parts known to fail, like greasing the cables in the electric window mechanisms for example, as most items fail after a number of years service, and most can be done by the novice.
I have just covered 1200 miles in 5 days on a trip to N Wales, the motorway journey of 300 miles returned 57mpg, the overall journey including 600 miles combined urban and rural returned 47mpg, I have made 6 return trips (600 miles) to N Wales in this car since owning it, and all were pleasurable driving experiences.
These cars are not really any worse than any other so long as you understand cars need servicing. I'm happy with mine :)
I own y reg diesel Dynamique which is very comfy to drive on the motorway, fairly comfy internally and gives an above average load space in the rear. The financial upkeep though is quite shocking! I`ve had it since June last year and have had to replace the Turbo, both suspension wings, 2 new front tyres and had to suffer the tyre pressure sensors` temperamental actions resulting in parting with £1400. I perhaps at first thought I was just unlucky, yet having read these reviews it seems standard. I really like the car, it`s a pity that it is made by Renault!
I own 02 1.9 dci Laguna estate 120hp dynamique. i have it less than a year and so far got the tyre sensors disabled, rear wiper unit replaced and abs sensor replaced. then the turbo blew! got it all fixed but still failed nct with a cv and ball socket joint. if i even get a puncture in the next 12 months, its gone.
My car is a Vectra 2.2Direct Elegance Estate 53 plate Reg 04 this car has spent so much time in the garage due to Electronic faults, Fuel pumps and…
I bought this car only a few months ago and it is pretty poor. The fuel consumption is my main complaint as it never seems to be any better than 25…
