    My car

My wife has had a 06 Jetta 2.0Tdi Sport since June 06, it was one of the 1st registered in the UK.

The plus points are space, road manners, and comfort, thats about it.

The bad points now where do I start, 9 sets of tyres in 60k miles, VW have all but given up on trying to sort the suspension geometry out. It needed a new steering rack after 9 months, it's had the full front suspension replaced, all the rear bushes have been replaced. Both front and rear barkes have been replaced. The headlight light control unit has been replaced 3 times. You have to be careful how you push the drivers seat back and forward, otherwise it rips out the airbag wiring. Most recently the ABS/ESP control unit packed in, at a cost of over £700. The paintwork standard is rubbish, chipping and marking very easily. The level of care, and standard of work from our local VW garage has been very poor to say the least.

I've had numerous VW's throughout my years, and the workmanship, shown on this car has went downhill.

If this was your VW, you would never have another one, my understanding are that these cars are built in Mexico, and it shows.

As such it's after 4 years of ownership, it's being replaced in June, I'm getting a Honda.

    My car

The engine on this car is a peach! It is eager, fast and always has plenty of torque available for overtaking, especially when you're already travelling fast. It handles the motorway and A roads with grace and was surprisingly similar to the 3 series I use at work.

Costs are very reasonable. It looks good on the drive too!

The interior is a disappointment and VW must know this as they are revamping the entire interior for the Jetta range.

I still recommend one though - if you find the Passat too big.

    My car

well built car, stiff bodyshell with good roadholding.Well laid out interior, very comfortable seats. DSG gearbox which is simply excellent. The engine is uprated to 170 bhp via a bluefin software upgrade and this has improved economy and has made the car a lot more responsive. The midrange torque is now excellent for overtaking. The car has an electronic limited slip differential and was excellent in the snow recently. Overall with minor modifications a rather surprising 'Q' car.

    My car

I bought my 9 month old Jetta during early December 2008, and have been really impressed by the overall quality and performance. This car is a joy to drive, very comfortable, and has impressive acceleration and high cruising speed capability, with overall running costs quite low for such a large car. This is a really impressive car, and I have no hesitation in giving this model my 100% satisfaction. I bought it for a bargain price from a well known National car supermarket, and a few days after purchase I saw exactly the same year and model on a local VW dealers forecourt priced at £3500 more than I paid for mine! Which really says a million words.
