The Volkswagen Golf GTD Estate is a diesel hot estate that aims to combine performance, comfort and impressive fuel economy.

What engines can I choose from?

All GTD Estates are powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel engine in the Golf GTD hatchback. It produces 181bhp and gets from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, which is just 0.4 seconds slower than the hatchback.

Average fuel economy, officially at least, is an impressive 64.2mpg.

What equipment does the Golf Estate GTD come with?

On the outside the GTD Estate gets a sporty bodykit, a honeycomb radiator grille, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust pipes and black roof rails. Xenon headlights and sports suspension are also standard.

Inside, there are sports seats, stainless steel pedals, a golf-ball styled gearknob and aluminium trim on the steering wheel.

Options will include larger alloy wheels, leather upholstery and a Sports and Design package that will include tinted windows and red brake callipers.

How much will it cost?

Pricing and specification information will be available closer to the April on-sale date. We expect the GTD Estate to cost around £28,000. Cars are expected to arrive in the UK in June.
