I have owned my V70 from new and it is now 3 years old with 75,000 miles on the clock. Minus points: Tyres need changing after 20,000 miles and are very expensive - Plus points: Brilliantly comfortable seats, totally reliable mechanically; service experience, customer care excellent; 40+ MPG using light right foot; smooth cruising on motorways; great load carrier with flat folding rear seats; sat nav operation without removing either hand from steering wheel (you do need to read the operating manual) - Am changing car as now out of warranty and only buying a BMW 5 Series as the deal offered by BME was far superior to a Volvo replacement. Pity.
I bought my car second hand recently The car is a 2008 D5 SE 2.4 diesel on an 08 reg and has covered 41000 miles approx.
Car is extremely comfortable and I am very impressed how quckly the climate control warms the car interior up especially in the current cold weather!
Load carrying capacity is excellent especially with the back seats down.
The car has a six speed automatic gearbox but I am a bit disappointed to only be managing 36 mpg even though I have a "light right foot"
I have had to buy more recent satnav dvds (4) because the originals were out of date. Incidentally I find the satnav excellent now that I have got used to the column controls!
I've had the 2010 Model with the single turbo 175ps engine for almost 3 months now. It's automatic and averages 42mpg with mixed driving (that's a genuine calculation not from the trip computer which tells me 44mpg). I'm nothing but impressed with this car - the massive torque makes it easy to drive with minimal throttle which no doubts helps the fuel consumption. I went for the family pack with integrated booster seats which suits the family perfectly. The 4-2-4 way folding rear seat helps provide different load/permutations and has been put to good use on more than a few occasions. I've read quite a few road tests which have not been too kind about V70 handling and ride but I just don't see what the issue is - the seats are fantastically comfortable so maybe they mask a problem if there is one, but for normal everyday use it's comfortable and safe. I never thought I'd say it but I'm looking forward to many years of happy (torquey) motoring with this car.
In general a great car. comes with all the luxury required. cannot get fuel consumption above 35mpg (short or long trips). worst I am getting is 27mpg in and around town. since last 2 months, car has developed this irritating suspencion problem coming from the back of the car, travelling to the front. The entire back of the car squeekes and rattles and Volvo doesn't know what is causing it which is a worry. has anyone else experienced this problem?
