Audi’s smallest, four-seat open-top shares most of its engines, transmissions and interior with the A3 hatchback. Its closest rivals are the VW Golf Convertible and the BMW 2 Series Convertible. Others include the VW Beetle Cabriolet and Vauxhall Cascada.
The A3 Cabriolet has a lightweight fabric roof as opposed to a folding metal hood, and that helps keep its weight to a minimum. Folding down the roof can be done at speeds of up to 31mph, and the operation takes just 18 seconds from start to finish. Its durable interior, excellent build quality and understated styling are some of the A3’s most prized features and are what separate it from others in the class.
Our favourite is the powerful but economical 1.4 petrol in Sport trim; a reasonably priced combination that should satisfy most drivers.
