For The MG Motor MG6 is spacious and good to drive, and every version comes with a tempting amount of standard equipment.
Against The interior plastics look cheap and nasty, and running costs will be high due to poor fuel consumption and high emissions. Engine refinement also disappoints.
A car with potential, but the MG Motors MG6 is hard to recommend at the moment due to the low-rent interior and dirty, inefficient engine.
The MG Motor MG6 is available as a five-door ‘fastback’ with a turbocharged 1.8-litre petrol engine, and a four-door saloon with the same engine. There’ll also be a 1.9-litre diesel engine in late 2012.
There are three trims to choose from, and even entry-level S-spec cars come with air-conditioning, alloy wheels, four electric windows and a stereo with aux-in and USB sockets. The mid-level SE spec adds satellite-navigation, cruise control, Bluetooth and rear parking sensors. Meanwhile, range-topping TSE cars also get dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera and (rather cheap-feeling) leather upholstery.
All MG6s come with a three-year/60,000 mile warranty, which is a little disappointing compared with the five- and seven-year deals offered by some rivals. There is a three-year, unlimited mileage roadside assistance package, though.
