For The Subaru BRZ is great fun to drive thanks to its sharp handling and crisp responses. It's well equipped and affordable, too.
Against You need to really thrash the engine for the sort of pace you expect, and the interior looks pretty cheap. Not as practical as the best coupes, either.

So, should you buy the Subaru BRZ or a Toyota GT86? Both cars are identically priced, both are built by Subaru and both produce the same power and torque.
Our money would go to the Subaru. The BRZ's engine seems to develop more mid-range clout and revs more freely.
Also, the BRZ's firmer suspension gives a slight handling edge, which is more in keeping with the brief of a sports coupe even if it does impact on comfort.
