Kia Sorento 2.5 CRDi XE 5dr
I trully enjoy driving my recent purchase, the Kia Sorento. You can witness many admiring glances as you go on your way, followed by head scratching as the on looker wonders just what he is looking at!
The engine pulls smoothly and returns a reasonable fuel consumption. In daily commute an average of over 30mpg. The interior is quite basic when compared to more up-market 4x4s but is screwed together very well.
It's practical without being "in your face". I do have some minor gripes, though. The engine can seem a little noisy at lower speeds and you are reminded that you are driving a large 4x4 when you find a less than perfect road surface. The radio is a fiddly affair, especially when you are trying to fit the security front back on.
These minor issues aside, I find the Sorento to be every bit as good as all the road tests I'd read prior to purchase implied. Well done Kia on a job well done!
I had a TOYOTA RAV4 / 5DOOR AUTO 2 LITRE PETROL. The only reason that changed from my RAV4, which was brand new in March 2004 and was my second RAV4 was because I have purchased a four-berth caravan.
I honestly thought I would never get a better tow car than the RAV4. But the SORENTO is not only as good but better. I have had the Sorento five weeks now and towed my caravan from Birmingham to Padstow in Cornwall and back and it performed very well. At times I didn't know that I had the caravan in tow.
The engine I understand is a Merc 2.5. It also as a superb auto and manual gearbox. How you can say that the ride is hard?? I felt it was better than the RAV and Disco. Fuel consumsion was very good - I was able to do 320 miles on 3/4 of a tank, which with the caravan in tow was excellent.
The only moans I have are that I would like to have had a permanant radio and aerial.
I was looking for a second car to use along with my BMW convertible. Having excluded Range Rover, BMW and Mercedes because of the price, I was attracted to the Kia Sorento because of the price and quality of the model.
I was not dissapointed. I bought a 2.5CRD XS Auto for £20,145, saving nearly £3000 off the M rrp.
To say I'm delighted with the car is an understatment. How Kia can build a car of this qualityand style is unbelievable. I sat it in the Golf Club car park next to a Volvo XC90 and it held its own against the appearance of its more expensive neighbour.
I feel the build quality is excellent and well finished, the doors shut with a solid feel, interior is superb and the layout of the controls is excellent.
If I was to be very critical, the cruise-control paddles on the steering wheel do not illuminate at night, and the stereo is a single CD Player. But what do you expect for a car of £20,000?
Overall the ride is great. I have not found it to be firm. On the contrary it drives well, although the steering is suprisingly light and very responsive. Overall, a great buy!
I am highly delighted and would recommend this car to anyone.
