The Aston Martin DB12 offers a nice middle ground between the dynamism of the Ferrari Amalfi, and luxury and comfort of a Bentley Continental GT. Awesome V8 soundtrack and performance matched by sweet handling and a comfortable ride – essentially, it’ll get you to where you’re going in a stress-free manner, and put a smile on your face if you happen across a fun stretch of road along the way. A Porsche 911 Turbo is faster and, arguably, more usable, but the DB12 is less clinical and more fun. Go for the DB12 S. It’s not much more powerful but has enough small upgrades to make it sharper to drive. And it's the version people will want on the used market, so it'll likely be worth more come trade-in time.

The only engine option is a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8. It produces 671bhp, allowing you to get up to the motorway limit briskly using only its mid-range grunt. The car absolutely flies when you rev it hard, but you'll probably see fuel consumption drop into the teens.
