The ride is firm on standard M Sport suspension, so think about deselecting this (it’s a no-cost option) or adding optional adaptive M Sport suspension, which should make things smoother.

If petrol power is your cup of fossil fuel, the 184hp 2.0-litre 320i is a great place to start. It's perky enough for most situations, including motorway cruising, but it does need to be revved like billy-o when overtaking down a country road.
