The 4 Series Convertible minimises the usual convertible caveats and retains much of the coupé's excellent driving experience and everyday usability. Job well done, BMW.
The trim
M Sport trim comes with plenty of standard goodies, including 18in alloys, leather seats (heated in the front), cruise control and climate control. We’d recommend forking out extra for adjustable lumbar support, and, if you can, the M Sport Pro pack for the adaptive suspension.
The engine
This entry level 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine has 181bhp for 0-62mph in 8.2sec. Claimed fuel economy in the mid to high 40s is impressive, and the CO2 emissions aren’t bad, either.
