The model
Read full reviewAvoid the plug-in hybrid Cupra Leon, which is mediocre to drive by hot hatch standards, and the pure petrol 300 hatchback. The 310 estate makes much more sense, because it's practical, surprisingly comfortable and the quickest Leon available.
The trim
See full equipmentTop VZ3 spec brings leather seats (heated in the front) with electric adjustment and memory settings for the driver, and wireless phone charging, but we don't think it's worth the extra over the VZ2.
The engine
See full engine specsA nice, flexible engine – with the electric motor adding extra low-end thrust – but, unlike the 2.0 TSI 300, it’s not fast (for a hot hatch) when you really gun it. 0-62mph takes 6.7sec, which is only about a second faster than a regular Seat Leon 1.5 TSI 150 and miles off the pace of all its key rivals. It will travel 36 miles on battery power alone, which its rivals can’t do.
