Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost 125 ST-Line 5dr Review

The Ford Focus stands out as the best driver’s car in the class, with handling that truly entertains. It's complemented by a fine ride that almost matches a Volkswagen Golf for comfort and passenger space very nearly on a par with the Skoda Octavia. It's mainly the iffy interior quality and slightly lacklustre performance that mark it down.

If you like something a little sportier, this is the trim to go for. It comes with everything that Zetec has, plus 17in alloy wheels, sports suspension, LED front foglights, chromed exhaust tailpipes, alloy pedals, more aggressive bodystyling and keyless go.
Engine: 1.0 EcoBoost 125
This 123bhp 1.0-litre revs out steadily rather than with enthused gusto, and flat out through the gears it isn’t frisky enough to wakeup your adrenal glands, but officially it’ll still crack 0-62mph in 10.0sec; that's about what you can expect from the Skoda Octavia 1.0 TSI. But what matters most is that if you keep it revving above 2000rpm it’s flexible, pulling from 30mph to motorway speeds in third gear very effectively. It’s efficient, too, with claimed combined (WLTP) fuel economy of up to 49.6mpg and 107g/km of CO2.
