There’s very little to fault with the Honda Civic e:HEV. It’s great to drive, practical and cheap to own. And while some rivals have more rear seat space and are a little quieter, the Civic compensates by being generously equipped and very efficient. If you do buy one, we recommend choosing the mid-spec Sport trim.

Sport trim gets everything you’d need, including LED front fog lights, part-leather seats, 18in alloys, wireless phone-charging and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. It’s our pick of the range.

The only Civic engine option (unless you get a Type R) has 'self-charging' hybrid tech and provides plenty of punch for driving around town, overtaking and accelerating up to motorway speeds. The potent electric motor allows you to travel for short distances at low speed around town driving without using the engine at all.
