The Honda HR-V is an efficient and well equipped small SUV with a smartly styled and nicely finished interior. However, this is a highly competitive class, and for the same money there are plenty of rivals that are better to drive and more practical. If you do get an HR-V, we recommend going for mid-spec Advance trim.
The trim
Our favourite trim is generously equipped, with a heated steering wheel, a heated windscreen, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery and a powered tailgate, plus all the kit you get with entry-level Elegance trim.
The engine
All versions have a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors for a total of 129bhp. The regular hybrid tech makes for good fuel economy and a very quiet car in stop-start traffic, but when you accelerate, the petrol engine starts revving noisily.
