The Jeep Avenger is an appealing small SUV, being stylish, good to drive and cheap to run. That said, Jeep’s poor reliability record gives reason for concern. There are also more practical alternatives out there.
The trim
On top of everything you get on the mid-level Altitude, range-topping Summit is limited to the e-Hybrid and pure electric versions and adds 18in wheels, rear privacy glass, heated front seats, a wireless phone-charging pad, and a powered tailgate.
The engine
The petrol engine produces 99bhp from a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol motor, and comes with with a six-speed manual gearbox or – if you go for the e-Hybrid version – an auto gearbox. The 0-62mph time is just under 11 seconds, so it's not particularly quick.
