Review

The Mini Countryman offers a great combination of space, style and desirability, with just enough on-road fun. But there are still alternatives out there that offer a more premium feel, such as the Audi Q2, or an overall more composed ride, such as the Seat Ateca.

Trim: Cooper S E Exclusive

Engine: 1.5 Cooper S E Excl ALL4 PHEV

As well as a 1.5-litre petrol engine, you get an electric motor and battery pack. This means off-the-line performance offered from the electric motor is very brisk but it does tail off around 50mph, and the added weight doesn’t do much for its handling. The car can run in electric-only mode for a claimed 26 miles, but expect this to be much less in real-world driving conditions. This version makes most sense for business users and those doing short distances.
