Review

The Mini Countryman offers a great combination of space, style and desirability, with just enough on-road fun. But there are still alternatives out there that offer a more premium feel, such as the Audi Q2, or an overall more composed ride, such as the Seat Ateca.

Trim: Cooper Sport

As the name suggests, this adds some hot-hatch inspired dressing. That means bigger 17in alloy wheels in black, a sporty bodykit, a rear spoiler, sports seats, sports pedals, a sports steering wheel and cruise control. You can also have sports suspension at no extra cost but if you value your spine, we’d avoid it.

Engine: 2.0 Cooper D Exclusive ALL4

Despite being a fair bit quicker than the petrol Cooper, it has the lowest emissions and best fuel economy of the range. There is a significant price premium over the petrols, so you’ll need to do plenty of miles to recoup your initial investment.
