This is the 2013 Vauxhall Cascada an all-new convertible model that goes on sale in early 2013.
At 470cm long, the Cascada is 7cm longer than an Audi A5 Cabriolet and 28cm longer than a Volkswagen Eos. Vauxhall describes it as a full four-seater.
The fabric roof folds electrically. It can be operated on the move at up to 30mph and folds in 17 seconds. Three roof colours are available and can be combined with a choice of 10 body colours.
The Cascada's styling uses cues from Vauxhall's current models such as the Astra and Insignia, but it has a new interpretation of Vauxhall's 'blade' signature, with a crease that drops as it stretches from the top of the rear lights to the front edge of the door. The tailgate like the Insignia Tourer's is unusually wide and stretches into the rear wings.
Inside, the cabin has elements that are familiar from the Astra and Insignia, but Vauxhall says it has 'handcrafted elements not found in any other Vauxhall'. This includes 'soft-touch' trim with double-stitched seams on the top of the dashboard and instrument display.

A range of materials including embossed fabric and leathers will be available for the seats. An 'easy-entry' system is designed to make access to the rear seats easy, while the front seatbelts have an electric 'presenter' to make them easy to reach.

Boot space is 350 litres with the roof up and 280 litres with it down. A 50/50 split/folding rear seat allows more space for longer items.
Vauxhall says the Cascada's body is 43% stiffer than its previous convertible model, the Astra Twin-Top. It uses elements of the Astra and Insignia, including a Hiperstrut front suspension system that's designed to improve steering feel and handling. Vauxhall's Flexride adaptive suspension system will be available across the range. Alloy wheels with 18-, 19- and 20-inch diameters will be offered.
Choice of 10 body colours and three roof colours
The entry-level engine will be a 138bhp turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol. The other petrol engine will be a new 1.6-litre turbo that develops 168bhp; initially this will be available only with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel option will be a 163bhp 2.0-litre unit.

Vauxhall is yet to announce full prices and specifications, but we'd expect a starting price of around 23,000. Top-spec versions are likely to cost more than 30,000.
More details will be announced when the Cascada goes on sale in early 2013. First customer deliveries are expected in March.
