Mazda CX-5 unveiled

This is Mazdas CX-5 compact SUV. Itll be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in September, ahead of its on-sale date in spring 2012.

The CX-5 is the first production model to showcase Mazdas new Kodo design theme. As expected, its almost unchanged from the Minagi concept car that made its debut at the Geneva motor show in March this year.

It is also the first model to be built using Mazdas Skyactiv technology, which is designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through a combination of lightweight construction and a range of all-new petrol and diesel engines.

Initially, the CX-5 will be available with 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engines. Mazda is aiming for CO2 emissions of less than 120g/km for the diesel model.

Mazda says the CX-5 will go on sale in spring 2012. Prices havent been confirmed, but wed expect them to start at around 21,000.

Updated Mazda 3 at Frankfurt motor show
Mazda will also unveil an updated 3 hatchback at the Frankfurt motor show. The 3 will have a range of subtle cosmetic tweaks and updated engines with lower CO2 emissions.
