New Hyundai i20 vs Seat Ibiza

Our verdict

The Hyundai i20 has always been a well-rounded small hatchback with no major weaknesses, but it turns out that it needed more than a few simple styling tweaks and infotainment updates for it to leapfrog its way to the top of the class. Indeed, aside from ride comfort and cruising refinement, the Ibiza is superior in almost every way.

But that shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. The Ibiza won our 2018 Small Car of the Year award thanks to its excellent handling, practicality and running costs. It’s far from uncomfortable in sporty FR trim, but it is worth considering the cheaper SE if you want a truly supple ride.
